Puppy Wesley
Wesley (aka, Wes, Wessles, Weston, Westminster, and Wesley-Woo), is an Apricot-Champagne coloured, toy poodle-bichon frise cross. He was born (we estimate) October 28, 2003 and so, has just turned two.
Wesley was for sale in a pet shop/supplier in Surrey Hills and when I saw him, I knew he was going to be our baby.I remember holding him for the first time - so tiny, so CUTE, he didn't want to let me go, and I didn't want to leave him behind. There was something special about this puppy, but my husband (David) insisted we must keep looking.
I was so mad with David, I thundered around the house for the next few days, pouting and worrying that someone else was going to buy that beautiful dog. It was New Year's Eve, 2003 and I just didn't want to come home from work. I was so mad at David - that I believed the next person to see the puppy would have bought him, no fear.
I eventually got home that night - I took the scenic route home. I walked in the front door to find my husband standing in the hallway, grin from ear to ear. "What's up with you?" I asked. Just then, a tiny patter of 4 paws came around the corner. He looked at me and couldn't get to me fast enough, wagging his tiny tail and so excited - like he remembered me from a few days before. I burst into tears and was so grateful to be blessed with this sweet puppy.
After much deliberation, Wesley became his name, after the Star Trek character (David's the Trekkie). Like all puppies, we worked through the toilet training, found many tiny teeth around the house, and his destruction phase. We started obedience training when he was six months old, and continue to go today. I love to go, I think, as much as he does.
Overall, he has turned out to be a well balanced dog - a trustworthy and loving companion. He's very healthy, gentle and caring, loves to play and loves to eat human food (I think he thinks he's human!) He can run very fast (a long wheel base model). He's quite a personality and we wouldn't swap him for anything in this world. He will always be my baby and will always be a very loved and treasured part of our little family.
I pray everyone could have a Wesley in their life.
